The hot tea that they drank was what made the Chinese laborers on the transpacific railroad survive (yes, there were loads of Chinese coolies hired for the tough job of laying those tracks) and thrive, and not succumb to gastrointestinal diseases that felled their white co-laborers.

Learned something new today: that only Camellia sinensis is really "tea"!! And what "tisane" really means! Thanks for another informative article!!
